Harrogate Mantrailing - Introduction Sessions

£65.00

Mantrailing is for every breed or cross breed of dog, any size, any training standard and any age from puppies at 12 weeks old * up to senior dogs! It’s also for every type of owner, old or young, fit or not-so-fit, you don’t have to be an athlete to take part, there is strictly no running on the trails!

It’s a fun activity where you work as a team with your dog training your dog to locate another person (the trail layer) by tracking their distinct scent trails. Given dogs' innate hunting abilities, mantrailing offers them a secure, supervised, and positive means to express this instinct. We guide them in utilising their remarkable sense of smell, transforming it into an enjoyable bonding activity!

As dogs are worked individually, this sport is perfect for nervous or reactive dogs and it actually helps to build their confidence. It’s a fabulous team-building exercise for you both, and you’ll learn more about your dog’s body language and what motivates them!

This is an individual coaching session that will teach you everything you need to know about mantrailing, setting you up for when other trailers will join you and your dog for the rest of the session (approximately a further 3 hours) where you can develop your skills together in different urban and rural environments.

All dogs MUST wear a harness, without one your dog cannot take part.

Dogs are rested in your vehicle in between trails, if your dog is likely to struggle with this , feel free to bring suitable enrichment (eg. likimat/chew/stuffed Kong) or another person to keep your dog company while you are acting as trail layer for someone else.

*providing they are fully vaccinated, happy wearing a harness and comfortable waiting in your car in between trails
